Mahasti Khakpour
Dr. Khakpour is an interdisciplinary health professor with expertise in economics and public global health. She earned her Ph.D. from the University of Saskatchewan, with a thesis focusing on food security of refugees as a global crisis. This work laid the foundation for her research on vulnerable populations, particularly immigrants and refugees. Currently an Assistant Professor at StFX University, Dr. Khakpour's past research has included studies in multiple countries, such as Canada, Pakistan, Iran, Switzerland, and Australia. She employs innovative methodologies like realist evaluation and patient-oriented research to understand health service delivery in diverse contexts. At StFX, Dr. Khakpour teaches courses in Global Health, Equity, and Innovation; and Foundation of Health with a focus on Social determinants of Health.
