Welcome to Philosophy at StFX!
Welcome to the Department of Philosophy!
Philosophy is the study and discussion of fundamental, important questions, such as: Does life have a meaning? How should we live our lives? Is there life after death? What is justice? How should we treat nature and the environment?
The Department offers majors and honours programs in Philosophy, are leaders in the “Ethics, Politics, and Law” concentration, and are leaders in the first year “Humanities Colloquium.”
We offer student-centered teaching, and international research collaborations with South and East Asia, Central Europe, and Southern Africa.
Our recent majors and honours graduates have careers as lawyers, journalists, IT developers, ethics consultants in hospitals, advisors with refugee/immigrant communities, researchers for unions and for government, and... magicians!
