Role of the Black Student Advisor

The Black Student Advisor manages the successful delivery of inclusive services, helps foster an inclusive campus culture, and serves as the primary contact for Black students on campus both domestic and international. They promote and honour the diversified culture of the African Diaspora at StFX. Their mandate is to ensure that Black Students are supported, guided, and encourages throughout their post-secondary journey at StFX. This is accomplished in several ways, including advocating for Black Students, advocation on behalf of them to various stakeholders, helping Black Students navigate resources on campus, providing one-on-one and group support to Black students, and celebrating African Heritage through a variety of events and programming.

Addressing students’ needs is the utmost priority of the Black Student Advisor. Moreover, we believe that with persistence and a tailored one-on-one experience, Black Student will be able to thrive and succeed throughout their academic careers.
