Financial Support

The Four W's of Grant Funding

What is Grant Funding?

Student loan grant funding is a type of financial aid awarded to students to support them in their educational studies. To qualify for student loan grants, students must meet the criteria outlined by the home province's government student loan department. Typically, these grants are awarded to students based on financial need.

Unlike loans, grant funding does not need to be repaid. However, grants have conditions that must be met upon receiving the funding.

Why do I need Grant Funding?

Examples of funding for services and equipment are tutoring, notetaking, noise-cancelling headphones, and Grammarly. It is important to note that the grant funding eligibility is based on documentation provided to the Tramble Centre.

Who is eligible?

The Canada Student Grant for Services and Equipment for Students with Disabilities (CSG-DSE) is based on financial need. To be eligible, students apply and qualify for student loans from the home province. If a student qualifies for student loans, the next step is to declare a disability with the home province using a disability verification form.

What is the process for applying for funding (CSG-DSE)?

To apply for the CSG-DSE students must meet with an Accessibility Resource Advisor. An appointment for Grant Funding is found here with Heather Myers or Tyson Ball, Accessibility Resource Advisors at StFX. They can also be contacted by email: ara@stfx.ca.
