Jill Murphy
Dr. Jill Murphy is a mental health services and implementation science researcher. She has a PhD in Health Sciences from Simon Fraser University (SFU) and completed post-doctoral training at SFU and the University of British Columbia (UBC). The majority of her training was in global mental health with an emphasis on improving access to evidence-based mental health care in low- and middle-income countries. She is currently Research Chair in Mental Health and Addictions and an Assistant Professor in the Health Program at St. FX. She is also the Executive Director of the APEC Digital Hub for Mental Health.
Dr. Murphy’s program of research seeks to identify community and policy-informed strategies and interventions to improve equitable access to mental health prevention, promotion and support. Areas of focus include: 1) digital mental health technologies and equitable approaches to digital health co-design and implementation, 2) the integration of depression care into primary care and community-based settings, 3) best practices to promote effective and equitable collaboration in mental health research. She is particularly interested in the meaningful engagement of people with lived experience of mental health conditions in research and in policy engagement to promote mental health systems strengthening. She is currently leading or collaborating on studies in Vietnam, China and Canada.
