Biography

Executive, entrepreneur, consultant, speaker, board adviser and volunteer, Alex has been significantly involved in Corporate Canada as well as the Startup scene in Ottawa, Toronto, Kitchener/Waterloo and Antigonish through his various entrepreneurial ventures and past experience as an executive at Accenture.

Currently, Alex has a variety of positions including:

  • Managing Director & CEO of Ascribe Marketing, a leading content agency.
  • Co-Founder & CEO of tech startup Bunking.com
  • Freelance consultant for digital marketing, entrepreneurship and Digital Experience Platforms.

At the age of 29, Alex was named by the Ottawa Business Journal and the Ottawa Board of Trade as a Forty Under 40 recipient. In October 2019, the company that Alex was COO of and part-owner was named Small Business of the Year by the Ottawa Board of Trade. In 2021, Alex was awarded the Young Alumnus Award by his alma mater, StFX.

Previously, Alex was CEO of award-winning video marketing firm Simple Story, Chief Digital Officer of GS5, the youngest Executive at Accenture Interactive in Digital Marketing (now Accenture Song).

While at Accenture, Alex was also the Canada lead for the Indigenous Peoples Employee Resource Group where he led the ERG to win the 2018 CCDI ERG of the Year. Moreover, he sat on the Accenture Canada Diversity Council.

In addition, Alex has Co-Founded and sold two businesses, AdmissionsConsulting.ca (now Youtfully.ca) and CampusRankings.com (now CampusGuides.ca). Some notable highlights are that the former was profitable and showed growth in all 10 of its years and the latter was acquired at a 415% ROI.

Additionally, as CEO of Simple Story, Alex was successful in negotiating the acquisition of Simple Story by Ottawa-based agency Craft&Crew.

Alex is the founder of the Social Entrepreneurship Fund at StFX - an annual fund to support social entrepreneurs at X by awarding the recipient with $5000. To date, Alex has raised more than $25,000 to be awarded over 5 years.

Moreover, Alex is the founder of the Ottawa Business Basketball Network, an innovative networking event that allows business leaders to network while playing basketball.

Alex also founded the fundraising initiative 12beCAUSE where he raised over $12,000 for a dozen charities by doing one difficult feat per month.

Alex been interviewed by many publications, including Globe & Mail, Yahoo Canada, Ottawa Business Journal and MacLean's.
