Undergraduate Application (High School Student, Mature Student)

Please note that applicants to Nursing have additional requirements and deadlines that can be found here.

The supplemental application for Applied Forensic Psychology can be found here.

Upon application, submit your transcripts

  • Students from High Schools in Nova Scotia: provide your Nova Scotia Provincial Student Number (PSN) at the time of application for StFX to access your transcript through My Transcripts.
  • Other Canadian, International High School, and Mature Applicants: you will need to request your transcript(s) be submitted to StFX officially by your secondary school by email (PDF format) to admissions@stfx.ca or by mail to the Registrar’s Office (Address: Registrar’s Office – Admissions, 2329 Notre Dame Avenue, Antigonish, Nova Scotia B2G 2W5)

Please note: any document (transcript, course list, etc.) you submit must be in PDF format and named as follows:

“Last name, First Name – Student ID Number”

  • Please note that students who are currently in grade 12 applying for early admission must have the program requirements in grade 11, and be registered in the program prerequisites in grade 12 to be eligible for an early offer. Otherwise, offers will be made after receipt of the final first-term grade 12 transcript.
  • If your transcript does not show courses currently in progress, please ensure you email your course list for the full academic year in progress to admissions@stfx.ca. Please use the same file format (PDF) and naming convention as above adding "CL" to the beginning: “CL - Last name, First Name – Student ID Number”
  • If you are a Mature Student, StFX will require any completed secondary transcripts to review for pre-requisites for the desired program that you have applied to. StFX Admissions can support this by providing suggestions to obtain program prerequisites. Please email admissions@stfx.ca.

Here are other times we may require your transcript:

  • If an applicant does not receive an offer of admission upon application, when an updated transcript is available (after the first semester of Grade 12 is complete) please have the updated transcript sent to the admissions office.
  • If applicants wish to be considered for Major Scholarships, we will require your first-semester final transcript by March 1, 2024.
  • If you have applied to the 4-year Bachelor of Science in Nursing program, please continue to send us updated transcripts with final marks only (no interim reports) when they become available until you receive a decision on your application. Common examples would be after the first semester of Grade 12 (or the most recent grades available if upgrading) up to March 5, 2024.

StFX requires all students accepted to StFX to send their final transcript when available.

  • This is usually available at the end of June
    • StFX Admissions will review this transcript to ensure applicants have met the conditions of admission (outlined in the acceptance letter).
    • If applicants have not met the conditions of their offer, applicants are expected to complete upgrading. StFX Admissions can support you with options. Please contact admissions@stfx.ca.
  • The deadline to receive the final transcript is September 1, 2024, and this transcript is required to receive StFX scholarships.
  • If you are upgrading over the summer months, you need to advise StFX when the final transcript will be available. Deadline September 1, 2024.

Next steps:

  1. Waiting for an admissions decision
    • StFX Admissions will aim to make an admissions decision on an undergraduate application as soon as possible. If it has been more than 10 business days since you received your “thanks for applying” email with your StFX student number, please forward that email to admissions@stfx.ca to ask if there is anything missing from your application to make a decision.
    • If an Admissions Officer contacts you for more information, it is important to respond in a timely manner. Using the same email you applied with, or including any other first or last name/surname included on your application and transcript is helpful!
    • Review Key Dates and Deadlines
    • Keep working hard!
  2. Receiving an admissions decision
    • If an Admissions officer contacts you to let you know that we are not able to offer you admission at this time, please know you do not need to apply again and we want to work with you to support your admission to StFX! We try to offer direct guidance as to what the next steps are to work toward admission once your next updated transcript is available.
    • If you receive an offer of admission, please review the offer of admission carefully; this offer is often conditional and requires you to meet the conditions of that offer. Please ensure you read, understand and adhere to the offer conditions.
  3. Confirming your acceptance
    • You can confirm your acceptance as soon as you receive your offer of admission. StFX may require one business day before your confirmation is active in our system. Please be patient and we will email you a confirmation letter.
    • Once confirmed, you will be provided with the application for Residence at StFX.
    • Students are encouraged to confirm by May 15 to secure their seat in the program, provided they meet their offer conditions. If you are accepted after May 15, you will have 30 days to confirm your seat.
  4. Defer my acceptance
    • Students may wish to defer their acceptance, students are required to have paid their confirmation deposit, met their offer conditions, and submitted their final transcript. Do note that not all programs are eligible for deferral. Please contact admissions@stfx.ca for the deferral form.

The University reserves the right to revoke admissions to certain programs and to the university due to unmet conditions. If admission is changed or revoked after registration, course enrolments will be cancelled.

Students accepted before May 15: please confirm by May 15.

Students accepted after May 15: please confirm within 30 days of the date on the acceptance letter.
