Meagan Ryan
Meagan Ryan is an Assistant Professor in the Elizabeth & Thomas Rankin School of Nursing at St Francis Xavier University. She graduated from St. Francis Xavier University with a Bachelor of Science in Nursing (2015) followed by her Master of Nursing degree with a teaching focus from Athabasca University (2021). Her clinical background is in acute care and emergency nursing in rural Nova Scotia, that paired with her education, fostered a passion and dedication to nursing education. She pursued this passion as a Nurse Educator at the Rankin School of Nursing from 2019-2024 prior to her current role as Assistant Professor. Meagan is a Canadian Certified Nurse Educator (2022) and is involved in nursing service both at the SON and across Canada
Meagan’s research focuses on new graduate nurses and digital health in nursing education and practice. The objectives of her program of research are to: 1) evaluate current nursing education and practices pertaining to new graduate nurses from student to experienced nurse, 2) develop evidence to support best-practices for nurses transitioning to practice and 3) evaluate the influence of the integration of digital health for the nursing profession. As a rural nurse and educator, she applies a rural lens to her research that informs her work. She is currently a Doctorate of Philosophy in Nursing student at the University of Ottawa, under the supervision of Dr. Michelle Lalonde.
