Welcome day

Welcome Day will take place on Friday September 1, 2023.  All new students must check-in at the Keating Centre (1100 Convocation Blvd.) at the appropriate time.

If you are living in residence: your specific move-in time was sent directly to your StFX email account.

If you are living off-campus: please check-in between 1PM and 3PM.

Relaxed Check-in

If you are feeling anxious about the excitement of Welcome Day and moving into residence, there is an alternate Relaxed Start early move in. Students who have high anxiety or sensitivity to high stimulus can register to move in on Thursday August 31 between 8am and 1pm. To register, email @email with your interest by Friday August 18.

Community Connections: Check-in for interested Indigenous, Black, 2SLGBTQIA+ and International Students

On Thursday August 31, StFX will host our Community Connections Day. Students can get settled into residence a day before orientation activities, check out the student services showcase, meet new friends, and participate in fun activities. Students interested in attending must pre-register by Friday August 18.

X-FEST 2023

X-Fest is the official welcome celebration for new students hosted by the StFX Students' Union (The U). GET READY GUIDE

The 2023 Get Ready Guide will equip you with the information and resources you need to start preparing for September. It also doubles as a checklist to help you keep track of all your important summer to-do items—from setting up your StFX account to registering for classes to packing for residence (including a checklist of what to bring/what not to bring to campus).

MENINGITIS B VACCINE

Post-secondary students living on-campus for the first time are at increased risk of a meningococcal infection. Vaccines for MenB are not part of the routine childhood vaccination schedule. If you are coming to campus this fall and will be living in residence, we encourage you to talk to your healthcare provider about getting the MenB vaccine. You should check with your province, territory, state or country to see if they publicly fund the meningococcal B vaccine. If they do not,  you should check with your medical insurance plan about coverage. The vaccine is included in the coverage provided by the StFX Student Union medical insurance plan.

Learn more about meningococcal infections and how to protect yourself.

Parking on campus

If you plan to park your car on campus during the school year, you must purchase a parking pass. You can purchase your parking pass now and pick it up when you check-in at the Keating Centre on Welcome Day. For more information about rates for parking on campus, click here

If you have any questions or concerns about parking, please contact @email

Incoming Student SUCCESS Survey

Check your email after July 28th for a link to the Incoming Student Success Survey. This will give your Residence Life Coordinator (for residence students) or Student Life (for off campus students) some information they need to best support you during the transition to StFX. They are your go-to person for anything you need!

XAVERIAN COMMUNITY FOUNDATION MODULES

All new first-year students must complete a series of online learning modules before arriving on campus designed to help you prepare for the transition to StFX. Topics covered include consent education, academic integrity, healthy socializing, and anti-racism.

X-ACT

Learning at university draws on many of the skills you already have, but even so, it takes some time to learn how to succeed in your classes. X-Act will help you develop and enhance the learning skills and strategies you will need to be successful in your first year at StFX. Topics include time management, using a syllabus, using Moodle, academic integrity, academic regulations, studying, coping with stress, and how to connect with campus resources.

The six-week program developed by the Academic Success Centre and the StFX Health and Counselling Centre is delivered by upper-year students. Registration is open to any first-year student at StFX, including incoming transfer students.
