What is a BASc in Climate and Environment?
The BASc in Climate and Environment is a 4-year undergraduate degree program that provides students with an unparalleled education by covering topics, concepts, approaches, and issues pertaining to climate and environment. Students take courses in both the faculties of arts and science, providing them with a wide-ranging perspective on the dynamics that influence how we understand climate and environmental problems.
Are there special entrance requirements to the BASc in Climate and Environment?
Students applying to the Bachelor of Arts and Science in Climate and Environment from high school require grade 12 English; two classes in either math, chemistry, biology or physics; and two other university preparatory courses in grade 12. If you’re a student entering from CEGEP, a transfer student, or an international student, see the Academic Calendar for your requirements.
Can I still apply if I’ve already been accepted into StFX in another program?
Yes – if you would prefer to enroll in the Bachelor of Arts and Science in Climate and Environment instead of the program indicated in your original application, contact the admissions office to let them know you wish to switch. Students who meet the admissions requirements will be admitted to the Bachelor of Arts and Science in Climate and Environment.
What courses will I take during my first year?
The first year is designed to provide you with the disciplinary foundations that will help you succeed in upper-year courses. After gaining an introduction to climate and environmental issues, you’ll take courses in biology, sociology, economics, and computer science or math. By developing your knowledge from both an arts and science perspective, you’ll be able to tackle complex issues facing our communities and the planet.
Is there a minor in Climate & Environment?
Yes – students enrolled in the BA, BSc, BBA, and HKIN can take a minor in Climate & Environment. Minors take: CLEN 101, 102, and 201, plus one of CLEN 202, 301, 302, 303 or 304, as well as 12 credits in CLEN core or designated courses. None of the cross-listed or designated courses may be in the student’s declared major subject.

Can I take courses in Climate and Environment even if I am enrolled in another program?
All Climate and Environment courses, with the exception of CLEN 401 and 402, are open to all students on campus.
