Important Message from Town of Antigonish: Town Water Update

PLEASE SEE THE BELOW MESSAGE FROM TOWN OF ANTIGONISH CAO, RANDY DELOREY:

Since entering our second voluntary water conservation earlier this month, we have received very little precipitation. As a result, the Town's water reservoir, the James River Dam (JRD), has not had an opportunity to replenish.

We were hopeful that the current, and forecasted, precipitation would recharge the JRD. Staff have monitored water levels and updated forecasts throughout the day today. Unfortunately, based upon current and forecasted precipitation in the area, and current water consumption levels, we are anticipating a potential need to move to mandatory water conservation early in the week, possibly as early as Monday or Tuesday.

Please note there is the possibility of increased precipitation or reduced consumption that could extend that timing, but I want to make sure the community is aware of what may need to take place next week.

Regards,

Randy Delorey, CAO
